Hulhumale a developing City?

Hulhumale no doubt provides shelter to plenty of Maldivians. If not for Hulhumale perhaps Male’ would have been much and much more crowded. It can be said that Hulhumale does ease the pressure on Male’ the capital city of Maldives. But as a separate island, can it be defined as a developing city?

Supposing that the capital City Male is not 20 minutes away from Hulhumale, are the basic services available from Hulhumale?

Any one who wishes to take a passport photo too has to take the 20 minutes ride to Male’. I heard there is someone who visits houses and takes passport size photos in Hulhuame? Isn’t it great?

If you find yourself or any of your relatives seriously ill, would you prefer Hulhumale hospital to the 2 hospitals in Male’? Would it be safe? Are the services in Hulhumale hospital comparative to the services available from Male’ Hospitals?

Supposing you can afford to take your kids to Male schools, i.e. you have the means and finance as well, would you prefer Hulhuamle schools to that of Male’? But then again I guess one could never make a better choice regarding this issue. Cos even if the education is good in certain schools, the conduct of children in such schools becomes a bigger issue……….The international school which started recently in Hulhumale no doubt provides a glimpse of hope..But how many people can afford to send their kids to the international school?

How about one who wants to buy some office shirts, pants and shoes? It’s that 20 minutes ride he too has to take…….Its like that 20 minutes ride in the overcrowded ferry is the price people living in Hulhumale have to pay to the shelter provided for them.

The talk of a bridge between Male and Hulhumale is too much to hope for in the near future. People living in Hulhumale have to go to Male first to get in to the airport even, where as Hulhumale and the airport or Hulhule is connected by land...

At night the island looks haunted and isolated. Not much light…few people can be seen on the road….

Still people in Hulhumale shouldn’t they be thankful, to the shelter provided for them? People in faraway islands have to travel far more to get in to capital city than people of Hulhumale….Isn’t it?

Hence Hulhumale can it be defined as a shelter 20 minutes away from capital City with minimum services?

Ramazan

Ramazan is only a month away……

How much are we ready to face the holy month of Ramazan……

It’s the month in which observant Muslims fast for Allah SWA.

It’s the month during which Allah’s numerous blessings flows.

It’s the month in which all evil Jinns are shackled

It’s the month in which all Muslims are encouraged to read the entire Quran.

It’s the month in which all Muslims should strive to be a better Muslim.

It’s the month in which all Muslims should learn more about Islam.

It’s the month in which all Muslims pay Zakaath, obligatory charity …which is one of the pillars of Islam…..

It is also the month in which Quran was brought down

This all adds up to the specialty of this month…….Anyone who does not make use of this holy month should think twice…..should think again…………

Eating good and healthy food during Ramazan is something Muslims should do and it is better if we share the food with relatives and give to the needy…

Food should never be wasted during Ramazan or during any other month……..

People have a tendency to waste food during Ramazan, However we should try to avoid this.

Muslims should not spend half of the day sleeping when they are fasting….

The aim of ones fast is minimized when one spends half the day sleeping……….feeling no hunger…..

Muslims should not give in to temptations of the Shaythaan or to the desires of the mind either especially during the month of Ramazan. Contentment from breaking the fast comes, when we perform obligatory prayers, control negative emotions and feelings in us…......

The feeling of contentment during the moment in which Muslims break fast is indescribable

The satisfaction and the feel of achievement that comes after having fasted completely during Ramazan is indescribable…

We all should makeup our mind, to get ready for the month of Ramazan, not only by buying stuff, and making up our house…..(that too is a good thing as long as no wasting is done…..) .

We should not think up of ways in which we can entertain ourselves during Ramazan……

We should avoid watching TV as much as possible during Ramazan, especially unnecessary and useless stuff...Instead we should make up our mind to get spiritually ready for Muslims holy month……and all Muslims at the end of Ramazaan, should make up our mind to take ahead the lesson we learned from fasting for Allah SWA ….to take ahead the contentment and peace one gains from fasting during Ramazan…….to let go of negative feelings like, envy, jealousy, anger, hatred, backbiting etc……..to work solely to attain Jannah……to worship Allah, who blessed us with numerous blessings……

Hulhumle' ferry service - no room for improvement?

The complaint of people who travel between Hulhumale’ and Male’ is the inconvenience of the service and its arrangements. The service provider no doubt, is serving Maldives or Maldivians….May be there is no other party who can provide the service to the same limit either…..But does that mean, that the service is perfect?

Should not they listen to their customers or people who use their service?

There are no rules, no orders, no major arrangements, no priorities in the ferry terminal…A point worth noting is that there is exactly no difference between the person who purchases th ticket first and the person who purchases the ticket last.....Many a times its the person who comes last who goes in through the exit first...Cos if all the seats are full, he just goes and wait near the exit............

It’s the strong and it’s the people who do not mind mixing up with others who win in the struggle to get through the door first and fast….. It seems like chaos till you get seated in the ferry.

Can’t they implement a rule or arrangement so that there is some sort of order and smoothness in entering the ferry…..? All people are mixed up .Elderly people, kids, pregnant ladies, women, men etc etc…….

People of all sort use this service….But people who prefer some decency, or elderly people, people who are sick etc.. too cannot afford to be seated in the ferry terminal till the door opens, unless he or she does not mind if the ferry is missed or not…….The only option for everyone most of the time is to go and stay behind those who are near the exit…..Of course this is not all the time…..but many a times..

The complaint of most of the people I think is not the amount of time one has to spend on the sea but the lack of arrangements in the terminal...Ofcourse if the amount of time can be decreased many would be happy...But the complaints go beyond that..

The complaint goes on and on……..But is there anyone who cares!

How much assurance does one have that he can purchase a ticket say 15 mins before the ferry after a days work, and relax in the terminal a little and still get on the ferry with out any pressure…..?

In other countries people who travel to work or school have a choice, ie to take a taxi or bus etc etc…For people who live in Hulhumale, they have no choice, no options....but to go through this chaos.....

In spite of this due to the rise in price of oil, may be the price of ferry tickets will go up soon….But the service will it get better, or remain the same or get worse?

Unanswered questions...........

Did you ever wonder what could be the root of all ills of society we see in Maldives? The social issues range from housing problems to gang fights and drug abuse etc..etc….The young generation is too carefree…..trying to adapt western styles and copying their way of life……!

Why are there so many drug abusers in Maldives, which is defined as a dot in the Indian Ocean?

Why do so many people fall off from the right path? Why?

Why is western way of life being introduced to us?

Why are young people so confused?

We often hear from the media “dhivehivanthakan”……..What exactly is “dhivehivanthakan”? Is it what we see in the society now?

What have we preserved during the past few decades? Our culture, our religion?

Once Maldives was defined as a safe haven..no violence, no crimes…

Can we still define Maldives as such?

Housing problems too is a major social issue..Houses are so packed up, no privacy, no space, …and to add up to all this country is facing severe inflation!

And there are endless talks about corruption….

The people who look forward for a change keeps hoping that a good change will come after this years presidential election……..!

Let’s hope there will be good and major changes…..

But how long will it take for this country to put everything in it’s place?

After this years election would there be a better future for Maldivians?

What is the root of all the problems we see around?

These are all questions……..unanswered questions………..

Today yet another day........!

Today yet another day……..

Yesterday gone, tomorrow faraway……..only an anticipation

Another day begins……….

As you open your eyes……..

First thing what comes to your mind?

First thing what do you hasten to do?

Do you stop for a second?

To think, to take a break!

Do you wonder about the fact that you lay half unconscious and now you are up on your feet?

Do you just start running?

With the thought who cares? Here I come!

Do you wonder?

Why, How!

how the universe goes on in the same pattern…….

Life goes on………

At last the day comes to an end……

What did you gain!

What did you learn!

What did you think!

Whose hand did you hold!

Which path did you take!

A day comes and a day passes by!

Would you let today be just another day

Even after knowing for sure it takes you only a step closer to death..

Wouldn’t you take a break and think !

What is it that makes a bigger difference……………?

What is it that makes a bigger difference……………?

It’s the smaller things that we do, that makes a bigger difference, many a times………………………….

This is a simple truth, we fail to understand most of the time ……

For example , parents, spend on their kids for education, health etc…….They do a lot for the happiness of their children……But when it comes to giving them a hug, giving them a little some time and listen to them……..they fail to do so…….Can a maid listen to the pleas of your child, ? Parents can pay high salary and keep a maid to look after kids, but can never replace the love a kid needs from parents……..So in fact it’s the little something we could do that makes a bigger difference………Iistening to your children, spending some time with them etc………

A husband can pour his wealth on his wife, but can never make his wife happy, if he cannot give sincere love……..Sincere love includes listening, sharing, caring………spending time etc……..Likewise, a wife can do all cooking, ironing, and cleaning etc.. for the husband….But it’s the little time she spends, listening, little time she spends trying to understand her husband, with out judging him, which makes a bigger difference……….

A child can spend wealth on his/her parents when they are old…..But its not what you spend that would make a difference to them………It’s what’s in your heart that can be felt by them….It’s how sincere you are that matters……..a little time spent with them listening to them, it’s what matters…….. A little time spent listening could make a difference more than a little time spent talking……..

Hence a little quality time spent with your loved ones could be, more valuable than anything that can be purchased with money…………….

This applies to all relationships in general……

A sincere smile could make a difference……….A sincere greeting could make a difference……..

Salaam……….Have a nice day! Insha Allah………

Patience

Patience……….

Is the key……….to everything that’s good in life……….

If you are patient…..you face life’s challenges with faith and courage.

If you are patient, you teach others to be patient……..

If you are patient, you and everyone around you can experience the fruit of patience…….

If you are patient, through out life’s ups n downs your faith remains unaltered…….

If you are patient, you never fall in to Shaithaans trap………

If you are patient, you find much more pleasure in giving than in receiving……….

If you are patient, you seek that which is eternal not that which is temporary………….

If you are patient, you know in your heart that only Allah SWA can help you………

If you are patient, you can acknowledge your mistakes……

If you are patient, you do everything for the sake of Allah…………..

If you are patient, no one can beat you…………

If you are patient, you seek strength from Allah only!

If you are patient, everything that’s good comes your way……..

So let’s learn to be patient, which is the key to everything that’s good……….

You don’t have to be born patient, you can learn it, you can practice it consciously, till it becomes abided in your nature……………..

Take nothing for granted........

Take nothing for granted………….

Cos

Tomorrow you might wakeup

To find a loved one gone..

To find out, you suffer from a severe disease

To find out, you have lost all your hard earned wealth….

To find your self, worn out and old.

Hence………

Give love to your loved ones, expect nothing in return, except the reward from Allah

Appreciate your health, be thankful to Allah for your health, help others, while you can

know it in your heart, what you save is only, what you give (with sincerity)

Make use of young age in the proper way,not to hide from the truth, not to get lost in worldy amusements, but to worship Allah

Be thankful to Allah for everything .Say Alhamdhlillaahi..

Take nothing for granted.......

Have you?

Have you found contentment yet?

Have you found peace of mind yet?

Have you found calmness yet?

Yes, they have…..those who think of and worship Allah daily, in their thoughts and deeds…

Have you stopped running in this life’s mad race?

Have you stopped giving in to your temptations?

Have you given up challenging others?

Yes they have……those who do everything they do for the sake of Allah.

Have you found a never ending calmness?

Have you realized that there is nothing worth striving for except Jannah?

Have you realized that there is no other path worthy to follow than that of Rasoolullah SAW?

Yes they have….. those who pay more importance to the hereafter than this world.

Have you realized that it’s not the western style that build your integrity?

Have you let Islam decide your morals, values and principles?

Have you realized that to strive for Jannah is the only worthy goal?

Have you realized?

Let's ask ourselves!

ISN'T IT FUNNY?

Its funny that,

Its so easy to find fault in others, yet we never realize our own faults

Its so easy to talk bad about others, yet so difficult to tolerate when some one else talks bad about us.

We see faults everywhere we look around, but never a fault in us.

We see things in others they can improve, but never see anything in us which needs improving

We try to change the world, but never try to change ourselves.

We give good advice to others, but never advice our own selves.

We try to compete, others in worldly stuff, but never try to compete, one another in worshipping Allah.

We try to entertain ourselves in amusements, but are never satisfied

We try to look for contentment everywhere, but never seek contentment from Almighty Allah.

We want others to help us, but hesitate to help others.

We want others to love us, but do not love others.

We want kindness from others, but hesitate in being kind to others.

It’s funny, that its always I, myself, me……..

Its funny, that we are so selfish…………………

Plan for the hereafter

Life is a test. Allah tests people in different ways. Allah tests some people with, wealth, health, strength, courage, intelligence; likewise Allah test people with poverty, ill health, weakness, dumbness, etc…..and the list goes on. Regardless of our condition in life, we all are being tested. The rich are being tested on what they do with their wealth. The educated or those who are well informed on what they do with their knowledge…….etc.

Even if one is, wealthier than the other; that in no way makes him any superior to Allah. It’s Allah who gives us wealth and who makes us go through poverty as well. Hence to Allah one gets superior according to his deeds. Likewise when we come to the end of life it does not matter what kind of certificate we hold, where we lived, where we went; instead what matters is what we take with us; our deeds. One might struggle each second of life with a severe disease like cancer or one might be even mentally handicapped; But that in no way means they are less fortunate; We never know who will pass the gates of Paradise when the time comes. Allah knows best.

What we should keep in mind at all times is this life is nothing but a test. Hence don’t crave for worldly benefits. People never fail to plan their future. But do we plan and gather deeds for the hereafter. This life is not much different from a dream. What is lasting what is real is in fact is the hereafter. So would you rather plan for your ‘dream’ or plan for your hereafter which is what is real? Just think…! Why do we fail to think about the purpose of life. Its not to get your PHD neither it’s to build a new house. Give importance to build your character, and get ready for hereafter. In fact what matters is what’s inside; not what’s outside. What’s real is only your soul. Not your outside beauty; your health; your intelligence; your confidence; your strength. What’s real is what’s inside you. Your thoughts, your soul.

Don’t do anything with this world solely in mind. Don’t wait till you get a new house; till your children grow up; till you get that degree to think of the creator. First think of Allah SWA .

Hence, if we can keep in mind at all times that this life is a test and this life is just a “dream” and think about the purpose of life, we no doubt will be more humble, kinder, generous, loving, avoid hatred, jealousy and think about the creator.

Plan not ONLY your future but plan for the hereafter. And be among the people who looks at others with kindness; then Allah will be kind to you. Be among those who give love to others; Allah will love you. Be among those who help the poor; Allah will help you. Be among those who try to guide others; Allah will guide you. Be not, among people who look down on others . Be among, people who look with kindness to others; especially our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Don’t look down on others even if Allah has granted you more health; more wealth; more intelligence; more knowledge or more religious knowledge. Don’t look down on others, cause some one has no religious knowledge or at people who are less religious. In fact be thankful to Almighty Allah for granting you with more faith and try to help your Muslim brothers and sisters. Be a light; not a judge. It’s not for us to judge others. Allah knows best.

Dear brothers and sisters, hence prepare for hereafter………….Don’t delay it .We might never get another chance. Start now. Don’t delay your prayers thinking you will pray tomorrow. You might not get another chance, Wake up, and get ready for the hereafter. Read Quran. Learn from Prophet Mohamed SAW Sunnah…………..Plan for the hereafter.

Wake up and head ford 5 obligatory prayers. Don’t give more importance to anything other than your 5 obligatory prayers. Wake up and get ready for the hereafter………Learn more about Islam. Gather your deeds. If you are among those, blessed with more religious knowledge roll up your sleeves to help those less fortunate. And if you have not much religious knowledge don’t waste any more time. Wake up. Learn more and get ready for the hereafter. Think about the purpose of life. ……….

Every challenge is a test of faith

In life, things does not go according to our plan or wish always. Life is filled with ups and downs.

We should be thankful to Almighty Allah in good times and during bad times as well. Every challenge is nothing but a test of faith. If you come out of your challenge, pure and if you abide by Islamic values and principles during your challenge or difficult time, at the end of it you will be a better person than when you were before you faced your difficulty.. When things go against your wish don’t let temptations and desires rule your mind. Be the master of your own mind. Don’t let your physical desires be your master.

Always know in your heart, nothing good or bad can happen to you, without Allah's will, without Allah's knowledge. Hence when things go wrong, leave not much room for despair; hasten to raise your hands and pray to Almighty Allah, the most merciful. There is no helper besides Almighty Allah in all of our affairs. Hence do not despair in the thought that some one might harm you or that your wishes will not come true. Raise your hands and pray. Perform five obligatory prayers. Sooner or later you will find contentment.

Many a times when things go against our wish we tend to say; “what to do?”

By saying and thinking such comments we are being a victim of circumstances and not using our own freewill.

Supposing you are a student and you failed your exams, and if you just say “What to do?” is it sensible?

Ofcourse there is a lot you can do! You can take your books and study for the next exam!

Supposing you are a businessman and you make a loss. If you say what to do, you are just choosing to be a loser.

You should analyze what went wrong and work better next time…..This sounds like simple logic. But this is a simple logic people tend to forget. People tend to forget that we all have a free will.

Suppose your boss is pushing you too much, or you don’t earn enough. You think you deserve a better salary.

Then you need to be a better employee, to work harder, analyze your situation more.

The problem is not always out there. The problem is many a times inside us. As the saying goes”Be the change you want to see in others.” We want others to change; thinking we are simply perfect and we expect the circumstances to go as we wish….Remember life is not a cup of cake,. We are all here for a purpose.

We are blessed with a free will by Almighty Allah unlike other animals. Lets make use of this freewill and be thankful to Almighty Allah. Lets try to create a better circumstance for us and all around us.Lets be thankful to Almighty Allah.

…..The best room to be in is the room for improvement….

As humans, we all make mistakes…….But as long as we learn from our mistakes, it’s easier to walk on the right path.

It’s not easy for anyone to be on the track, always. We as humans tend to get off track. Hence we need to get inspired, be motivated daily, by thinking good thoughts, helping others, performing our duty to our religion, by reading holy Quran and its translation, by learning from Prophet SAWs Sunnah , and by keeping in mind our duties.

One of the best ways to keep on track is to let go of other peoples weakness. By talking about others and judging them we are not judging them, we are expressing our own weakness and ignorance.

Learn to respect and defend others in their absence. We should rather concentrate on our own weakness rather than others. When we talk about others do we think that we are faultless? Further do not we know that backbiting is forbidden in our religion? One can find proof of this in holy Quran and AHadith.

Many a times we share other peoples weakness with some one and tend to say’ “Please don’t mention this to anyone.” We might think that by doing this we will earn trust of those present. But in reality we will lose the trust of those present by talking bad about the absent. Hence we should refrain from backbiting and learn to respect others.

There are plenty of things to talk about other than “others.”

Like the world around you, what you did, etc etc………….

Like the beauty of life, like the many blessings of life……

and think about the purpose of life........

We all have room for improvement, and to begin with lets refrain from talking bad about others,in their absence, for the sake of Almighty Allah.
