Backbiting – Meaning of Verses from Holy Quran and Hadith of Rasoolullah SAW regarding backbiting

'And do not backbite one another; would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would abhor that.' (Al-Hujurat: 12)

O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, in deed some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear God, verily, God is the one who accepts repentance, Most Merciful. (49: 12)

Behold, you received it on your tongues, and said out of your mouths things which you had no knowledge; and you thought it to be a light matter, while it was most serious in the sight of God (24: 15)

And why did you not, when you heard it, say? "It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to God, this is a most serious slander" (24:16)

Say to My servants that they should only say those things that are best, for Satan does sow dissensions among them, for Satan is to man an avowed enemy. (17:53)

You have indeed in the Messenger of God an excellent pattern of conduct. (33:21)

Prophet Muhammad SAW said : "Who protects his tongue from unlawful utterances and his private parts from illegal sexual intercourse, I shall guarantee him entrance into Paradise." (Bukhari and Muslim)

"I asked the Messenger of God : Who is the best Muslim? The Messenger of God replied, "He is the one from whom Muslims are safe from the evil of his tongue and hands." (Muslim)

"When man wakes up in the morning each day, all parts of the body warn the tongue saying, ‘Fear God as regards us for we are at your mercy; if you are upright, we will be upright and if you are crooked, we become crooked.’" (At-Tirmidhee)

"Do you know what backbiting is?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He then said, “It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him, “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of Allah said, “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him."

"I asked the Messenger of Allah: Who is the best Muslim? The Messenger of Allah replied, "He is the one from whom Muslims are safe from the evil of his tongue and hands."(And when they hear Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk), they withdraw from it and say: "To us our deeds, and to you your deeds. Peace be to you. We seek not the ignorant.)(28:55)

"...no one believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."(Muslim)

“If a man's Muslim brother is slandered in your presence, and you are capable of defending him and you do so, God will defend you in this world and in the next. But if he fails to defend him, God will destroy him in this world and the next.”(Baghawi).

'While we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the wind brought a foul odor in our direction, whereupon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Do you know what this odor is? It is the odor of those who backbite the Believers.' (Reported by Ahmad)

From the above, it’s clear that backbiting (talking bad about your brother in his absence) is strictly prohibited in Islam. By avoiding backbiting, We are obeying Allah and Prophet SAW, we are also doing something for the other and also, it brings us peace of mind, and calmness.

By backbiting we instill negative feelings in us, which does no one any good……..
Many a times we tend to forget the simple rule of life……….to get love we should give sincere love first……..to get respect, we should sincerely respect others……...and the list goes on……..Its like, what you give, comes back to you…….

Have a nice day…Insha Allah..May Allah guide us all.

Have you?

Have you found contentment yet?

Have you found peace of mind yet?

Have you found calmness yet?

Yes, they have…..those who think of and worship Allah daily, in their thoughts and deeds…

Have you stopped running in this life’s mad race?

Have you stopped giving in to your temptations?

Have you given up challenging others?

Yes they have……those who do everything they do for the sake of Allah.

Have you found a never ending calmness?

Have you realized that there is nothing worth striving for except Jannah?

Have you realized that there is no other path worthy to follow than that of Rasoolullah SAW?

Yes they have….. those who pay more importance to the hereafter than this world.

Have you realized that it’s not the western style that build your integrity?

Have you let Islam decide your morals, values and principles?

Have you realized that to strive for Jannah is the only worthy goal?

Have you realized?

Let's ask ourselves!

Surah Baqarah

Rasoolullah (saw) has said -

  • Shaitan flees from the home where Surah Baqarah is recited

  • Keep reciting Surah Baqarah as the reading of it is a means of blessing. Not to read Surah Baqrah is a means of loss and regret.

  • For three days shaitan does not come close to that house wherein the last two verses of Surah Baqarah have been recited.

  • The Qur'an and those who committed themselves to it will be presented on the Day of judgment, preceded by Surrah Al Baqara and Surrah Al Imran.

  • Learn how to recite Surah Al Baqara for there is a blessing in it, and there is sorrow for abandoning it, and it is unbearable for the idle' and that Al Baqara and Al Imran are like two flowers which will shade their learner on the day of Judgment, as if there were two large clouds or two flocks of birds.

  • "Recite Surrah Al Baqara in your dwellings and do not keep them as tombs. He also said that whoever recited Surrah Al Baqara at night would be crowned with a crown of paradise."

Have you ever wondered??

In the Name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful

Have You Ever Wondered?

Have you ever wondered, when you look at the sky,

How those white cotton puffs change in shape and nature?

Have you ever wondered when this same sky,

Has the gray and black puffs,

and how they clash and cause thunder?

Have you ever wondered, was this all by chance?

Sometimes it just rains,

and sometimes it pours and sometimes there are

streaks of lightening and sounds of thunder.

Have you ever noticed the shape of snow how it differs?

Have you noticed the hail and why its there?

Have you ever wondered if all this happened by chance?

Have you ever wondered at the sky at night?

The beautiful little lights scattered everywhere,

The moon in its different stages,

And sometimes not there at all?

Have you ever wondered at the total eclipse of the sun or moon?

Couldn’t he who has caused it make the sun rise from the West?

Couldn’t he who caused all this resurrect

all that he has made in the first place?

Subhan-Allah, Subhan-Allah!!

Have you ever wondered at the seashore,

where all the different seashells came from?

Have you ever wondered at this calm and beautiful sea,

what it holds of wonders?

How many species of fish, of plants, of waterlife?

Have you seen the coral reefs, the seaweed, the starfish?

Have you seen the colonies of beings under the sea?

Have you seen the beautiful colors, the life?

Have you ever seen this same sea in its fury?

The waves are walls, that lash and carry everything in their way.

The beautiful serene blue color replaced by the ugly gray?

Can you tell if all this happened by chance?

Have you seen the beautiful green forest with all the trees,

and all the wildlife?

Have you seen the meek deer and the little rabbits,

Have you seen the butterflies, the bees and the ants?

Did you count the kinds of leaves you find on the ground?

Their variation in color, shape and size?

Can you tell me if all this could happen by chance?

Is it all by chance?Tell me, is it all by chance?

Did you look at your fingertips?

Everyone has a unique set…

They will be made again on the day of resurrection,

Who can do that but who has made them in the first place?

Couldn’t he who has caused it make the sun rise from the West?

Couldn’t he who caused all this resurrect

all that he has made in the first place?

Subhan-Allah, Subhan-Allah!!

Courage is in knowing that both parties can win..

Courage is to keep trying to improve your self…

Courage is in knowing that no one can harm you or benefit you unless Allah wills..

Courage is to love those who hate you, those who make fun of you.

Courage is to forgive those who hurt you..

Courage is in controlling your anger

Courage is maintaining good conduct……

Courage is sincerity in everything you do………

Courage is to strive to be a better muslim......

A Most Beautiful Hadith

What Prophet Muhammad SAW answered
when asked about this life and the Hereafter

Khalid ibn al Walîd narrated the following hadith:

A Bedouin came one day to the Prophet SAW and said to him, 'O, Messenger of Allah! I've come to ask you a few questions about the affairs of this Life and the Here After.'

- Ask what you wish.

Q: I'd like to be the most learned of men.
A: Fear Allah, and you will be the most learned of men.

Q: I wish to be the richest man in the world.
A: Be contented, and you will be the richest man in the world.

Q: I'd like to be the most just man.
A: Desire for others what you desire for yourself, and you will be the most just of men.

Q: I want to be the best of men.
A: Do good to others and you will be the best of men.

Q: I wish to be the most favored by Allah.
A: Engage much in Allah's praise, and you will be most favored by Him.

Q: I'd like to complete my faith.
A: If you have good manners you will complete your faith

Q: I wish to be among those who do good.
A: Adore Allah as if you see Him. If you don 't see Him, He seeth you. In this way you will be among those who do good.

Q: I wish to be obedient to Allah.
A: If you observe Allah's commands you will be obedient.

Q: I'd like to be raised on the Day of Judgement in the light.
A: Don't wrong yourself or any other creature, and you will be raised on the Day of Judgement in the light.

Q: I'd like Allah to bestow His mercy on me.
A: If you have mercy on yourself and others, Allah will grant you mercy on the Day of Judgement.

Q: I'd like my sins to be very few.
A: If you seek the forgiveness Allah as much as you can, your sins will be very few.

Q: I'd like to be the most honorable man.
A: If you do not complain to any fellow creature, you will be the most honorable of men.

Q: I'd like to be the strongest of men.
A: If you put your trust in Allah, you will be the strongest of men.

Q: I'd like to enlarge my provision.
A: If you keep yourself pure, Allah will enlarge your provision.

Q: I'd like to be loved by Allah and His messenger.
A: If you love what Allah and His messenger love, you will be among their beloved ones.

Q: I wish to be safe from Allah's wrath on the Day of Judgement.

A: If you avoid forbidden actions, your prayers will he responded.

Q: I'd like Allah not to disgrace me on the Day of Judgement.
A: If you guard your chastity, Allah will not disgrace you on the Day of Judgement.

A: Do not uncover your fellow creatures faults, and Allah will provide you with a covering protection on the Day of Judgement.

Q: What will save me from sins?
A: Tears, humility and illness.

Q: What are the best deeds in the eyes of Allah?
A: Gentle manners, modesty and patience.

Q: What are the worst evils in the eyes of Allah?
A: Hot temper and miserliness.

Q: What assuages the wrath of Allah in this life and in the Hereafter?
A: Concealed charity and kindness to relatives.

Q: What extinguishes hell's fires on the Day of Judgement?
A: Patience in adversity and misfortunes.

Related by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal

From the above hadith, its clear, the importance of good manners, kindness towards others, patience, controlling anger, modesty, etc….These are all values, which we should try to build in our selves. These are Islamic values, which when we exercise we make our life better and at the same time, we are obeying Almighty Allah.

A Hadith and Forgiveness in Islam

This is truly a beautiful hadith. Very touching. As humans we will make mistakes. Often, we tend to despair when we make a mistake. But Alhamdullilah, our forgiveness is only a prayer away.

On the authority of Anas (RA), who said: I heard the messenger of Allah (SAW) say:

Allah the Almighty has said: “O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as its.”

To receive forgiveness from God there are three requirements:

1. Recognizing the offense itself and its admission before God.

2. Making a commitment not to repeat the offense.

3. Asking for forgiveness from God.

If the offense was committed against another human being, or against society, a fourth condition is added:

1. Recognizing the offense before those against whom offense was committed and before God.

2. Committing oneself not to repeat the offense.

3. Doing whatever needs to be done to rectify the offense (within reason) and asking pardon
of the offended party.

4. Asking God for forgiveness.

There are no particular words to say for asking forgiveness. However, Muslims are taught many phrases and words to keep repeating daily asking God’s forgiveness. For example:

  • Astaghfiru-Allah, “I ask forgiveness from Allah”
  • Subhanaka-Allah humma wa bi hamdika wa ash-hadu al la Ilaha illa Anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, “Glory be to You, Allah, and with You Praise (thanks) and I bear witness that there is no deity but You, I ask Your forgiveness and I return to You (in obedience)”.

Islamic teaching presents the prophet Muhammad SAW as an example of someone who would forgive others for their ignorance, even those who might have once considered themselves to be his enemies. One example of Muhammad SAW’s practice of forgiveness can be found in the Hadith, the body of early Islamic literature about the life of Muhammad. This account is as follows:

The Prophet (may peace be upon him) was the most forgiving person. He was ever ready to forgive his enemies. When he went to Ta’if to preach the message of Allah, its people mistreated him, abused him and hit him with stones. He left the city humiliated and wounded. When he took shelter under a tree, the angel of Allah visited him and told him that Allah sent him to destroy the people of Ta’if because of their sin of maltreating their Prophet. Muhammad (may peace be upon him) prayed to Allah to save the people of Ta’if, because what they did was out of their ignorance.

From the above ahadith, its is clear, that we should forgive our brothers and sisters, when they upset us. Islaim is a way of life which teaches us all good general principles of life, which when we follow, we not only makes our lives better, but we will be rewarded by Almighty Allah as per Quran and ahadith.

Taking revenge, harms both parties, in most cases, in the long run. Forgive the one who hurts you.It will benefit you both in this world and the hereafter. Instead of the path of peace, would you prefer to hurt those who hurt you? Then you both come to the same level, when you do this. Both have erred. Forgive those who hurt you, and make it easier on you and the other….Its easier to let go of a grudge than holding on to it……….

ISN'T IT FUNNY?

Its funny that,

Its so easy to find fault in others, yet we never realize our own faults

Its so easy to talk bad about others, yet so difficult to tolerate when some one else talks bad about us.

We see faults everywhere we look around, but never a fault in us.

We see things in others they can improve, but never see anything in us which needs improving

We try to change the world, but never try to change ourselves.

We give good advice to others, but never advice our own selves.

We try to compete, others in worldly stuff, but never try to compete, one another in worshipping Allah.

We try to entertain ourselves in amusements, but are never satisfied

We try to look for contentment everywhere, but never seek contentment from Almighty Allah.

We want others to help us, but hesitate to help others.

We want others to love us, but do not love others.

We want kindness from others, but hesitate in being kind to others.

It’s funny, that its always I, myself, me……..

Its funny, that we are so selfish…………………

LIFE IS AN ECHO

“Life is an echo; all comes back,

The good, the bad, the false, and the true.

So, give the world the best you have &

The best will come back to you.”

A man and his son were walking in the forest. Suddenly the boy trips and feeling a sharp pain he screams, “Ahhhhh.”

Surprised, he hears a voice coming from the mountain, “Ahhhhh.”

Filled with curiosity, he screams, “Who are you?” but the only answer he receives is: “Who are you?”

This makes him angry, so he screams, “You are a coward!” and the voice answers, “You are a coward!”

He looks at his father asking, “Dad, what is going on?”

“Son,” he replies, “pay attention!” Then he screams, “I admire you!”

The voice answers, “I admire you!”

The father shouts, “You are wonderful!” and the voice answers, “You are wonderful!”

The boy is surprised, but still can’t understand what is going on.

Then the father explains, “People call this ‘ECHO’ but truly it is ‘LIFE!’ Life always gives you back what you give out! Life is a mirror of your actions. If you want more love, give more love!

If you want more kindness, give more kindness! If you want understanding and respect, give understanding and respect. If you want people to be patient and respectful to you, give patience and respect! This rule of nature applies to every aspect of our lives.”

Life always gives you back what you give out. Your life is not a coincidence, but a mirror of your own doings.

What is your echo?

………………

A good example would be how Maldives reacted in SAFF cup. They wanted Maldives to win @ any cost.

Maldivians wanted it………more than anything else …….

They said, this is our time……..and they proved they were right. I feel, that Maldivians forgot that there should be a limit to everything……….

They said, “football in mulhi gaumai faidhaa kodheynan.” Though its diffciult to think of any use football is to the country in general.

The point I am talking about is life gives back what we give, what we want....

So we have to decide what we want out of life.

-FORGIVE ME MY MOM-

FORGIVE ME MY MOM – A MORAL STORY

A man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”Whom should I honor most?”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “your mother.”

And who comes next?”asked the man .he replied,” Your mother”

”And who comes next?”Asked the man. He replied, “Your mother.”

And who comes next?” asked the man. the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied,” Your father.” ( Reported by Al-Bukhari )

My mom had only one eye. I hated her. She was such an embarrassment.

She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me.

I was so embarrassed. How could she do this to me?

I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out.

The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEE your mom has one eye!”

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. So I confronted her that day and said, “if you are only going to make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?!!!!”

My mom did not respond…

I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger.

I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her.

So I studied real hard, got a chance to go to Singapore to study.

Then I got married.

I bought a house of my own.

I had kids of my own.

I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts.

Then one day, my mother came to visit me.

She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited.

I screamed at her,”How dare you come to my house and scare my children!”Get out of here now!!!”

And to this my mother quietly answered,”Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address, “and she disappeared out of sight.

One day a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house in Singapore. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip.

After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died.

I did not shed a single tear.

They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

My dearest son, I think of you all the time, I’m sorry that I came to Singapore and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion.

But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you.

I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see…….when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye.

As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye.

So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With my love to you.

Your mother.

Moral of this story –

A mother’s love is like a deep river which is endless.

When you were young she held you, she did everything in her capacity for you.

Just out of love. When the time comes for you to give your love in return, don’t hesitate.

Give her more love than she gave you. Forgive all her present and PAST mistakes.

NEVER blame her for any of your circumstances even if it is true.

Every human has got a free will. You are free to choose now. Would you rather choose a path that leads no where or would you choose the path of love, forgiveness, encouragement, and path where all Islamic values exist.

Forgive your mother, if she did fail, give her more love.

Love your mother, teach her all that you have learned and learn from what she knows.

Grow together. Be a model to your mother and everyone out there.

No one is perfect. Nor is your mother. But make your love for each other perfect.

Let it be a comfort zone where you both, can share, care and grow together.

Let it be a comfort zone where you think about the purpose of life.

Let your love be a reason for becoming a better son or daughter and a better Muslim.

A BEAUTIFUL HADHITH

Assalam Alaikum!

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said :

"When a man dies and his relatives are busy in funeral, there stands an extremely handsome man by his head. When the dead body is shrouded, that man gets in between the shroud and the chest of the deceased.

When after the burial, the people return home, 2 angels, Munkar and Nakeer (names of two special Angels), come in
the grave and try to separate this handsome man so that they may be able to interrogate the dead man in privacy
about his faith.

But the handsome man says, "He is my companion, he is my friend. I will not leave him alone in any case. If you
are appointed for interrogation, do your job. I cannot leave him until I get him admitted into Paradise".

Thereafter he turns to his dead companion and says, "I am the Qura'an, which you used to read, sometimes in a loud voice and sometimes in a low voice. Do not worry. After the interrogation of Munkar and Naker, you will have no grief.

When the interrogation is over, the handsome man arranges for him from Al-Mala'ul A'laa (the angels in Heaven) a silk bedding filled with musk.
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) said :

"On the Day of Judgement, before Allah, no other intercessor will have a greater status than the Qura'an, neither a Prophet nor an angel.

Plan for the hereafter

Life is a test. Allah tests people in different ways. Allah tests some people with, wealth, health, strength, courage, intelligence; likewise Allah test people with poverty, ill health, weakness, dumbness, etc…..and the list goes on. Regardless of our condition in life, we all are being tested. The rich are being tested on what they do with their wealth. The educated or those who are well informed on what they do with their knowledge…….etc.

Even if one is, wealthier than the other; that in no way makes him any superior to Allah. It’s Allah who gives us wealth and who makes us go through poverty as well. Hence to Allah one gets superior according to his deeds. Likewise when we come to the end of life it does not matter what kind of certificate we hold, where we lived, where we went; instead what matters is what we take with us; our deeds. One might struggle each second of life with a severe disease like cancer or one might be even mentally handicapped; But that in no way means they are less fortunate; We never know who will pass the gates of Paradise when the time comes. Allah knows best.

What we should keep in mind at all times is this life is nothing but a test. Hence don’t crave for worldly benefits. People never fail to plan their future. But do we plan and gather deeds for the hereafter. This life is not much different from a dream. What is lasting what is real is in fact is the hereafter. So would you rather plan for your ‘dream’ or plan for your hereafter which is what is real? Just think…! Why do we fail to think about the purpose of life. Its not to get your PHD neither it’s to build a new house. Give importance to build your character, and get ready for hereafter. In fact what matters is what’s inside; not what’s outside. What’s real is only your soul. Not your outside beauty; your health; your intelligence; your confidence; your strength. What’s real is what’s inside you. Your thoughts, your soul.

Don’t do anything with this world solely in mind. Don’t wait till you get a new house; till your children grow up; till you get that degree to think of the creator. First think of Allah SWA .

Hence, if we can keep in mind at all times that this life is a test and this life is just a “dream” and think about the purpose of life, we no doubt will be more humble, kinder, generous, loving, avoid hatred, jealousy and think about the creator.

Plan not ONLY your future but plan for the hereafter. And be among the people who looks at others with kindness; then Allah will be kind to you. Be among those who give love to others; Allah will love you. Be among those who help the poor; Allah will help you. Be among those who try to guide others; Allah will guide you. Be not, among people who look down on others . Be among, people who look with kindness to others; especially our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Don’t look down on others even if Allah has granted you more health; more wealth; more intelligence; more knowledge or more religious knowledge. Don’t look down on others, cause some one has no religious knowledge or at people who are less religious. In fact be thankful to Almighty Allah for granting you with more faith and try to help your Muslim brothers and sisters. Be a light; not a judge. It’s not for us to judge others. Allah knows best.

Dear brothers and sisters, hence prepare for hereafter………….Don’t delay it .We might never get another chance. Start now. Don’t delay your prayers thinking you will pray tomorrow. You might not get another chance, Wake up, and get ready for the hereafter. Read Quran. Learn from Prophet Mohamed SAW Sunnah…………..Plan for the hereafter.

Wake up and head ford 5 obligatory prayers. Don’t give more importance to anything other than your 5 obligatory prayers. Wake up and get ready for the hereafter………Learn more about Islam. Gather your deeds. If you are among those, blessed with more religious knowledge roll up your sleeves to help those less fortunate. And if you have not much religious knowledge don’t waste any more time. Wake up. Learn more and get ready for the hereafter. Think about the purpose of life. ……….
